In situ
I offer complete in situ lighting installations tailored to specific spaces. Each project is developed in close dialogue with the architecture and the client.
The design is planned, measured and adjusted for the particular location, and architectural space with all its unique, existing conditions.
Architectural Lighting Design
I work directly with customers and with leading interior architects in the world. I provide:
-
The lighting is tailored to the exact environment and its specific variables (e.g., ceiling height, wall colour, presence of other objects, available power sources).
-
The installation can involve on-site measurements and fine-tuning to ensure optimal look, such as adjusting the colors, minimizing shadows and glare from a particular piece.
-
When the lights are displayed in situ, it helps a viewer or potential buyer to understand the scale and the visual impact of the work within a semi-realistic setting, rather than in an isolated photo or gallery.
-
During the construction phase, I can conduct full-scale mock-ups or on-site tests. This involves temporarily installing samples of light fixtures to observe their effect on the space, facades, or architectural details under real conditions - daylight and darkness. This is where "in situ" adjustments are made and boundaries explored before final installation.
Integrating artistic intent with technical and functional requirements
If you are interested in a site-specific installation, I can propose a composition using existing lamp designs or develop an entirely new lamp specifically for the project.
The process begins with a visit to the site or the receipt of drawings and documentation of the location. Based on this material, I create a lighting proposal that may include existing or newly designed lamps.
The proposal is presented through photographs, renderings, and sketches, offering a clear visual understanding of how the installation will interact with the space.
